Went to LA last summer and saw guys doing this everywhere.  I'm not sure if its legal or not, but we saw motorcycle cops w/out their lights on doing it, so its apparently common practice out there.

I wouldn't want to do this. I would be afraid I would get smished between two vehicles. I wonder if this is legal in most states.
